Is ATFX a good broker? Our verdict

ATFX is a practical fit for MT4 or MT5 users who want leveraged CFD access across forex, indices, commodities, crypto and share markets, but it is a poor fit for investors seeking ownership of shares or a plainly comparable account cost. Its main advantage is the platform choice, with MT4 automation and MT5 access alongside a range of markets and analysis tools. The most important condition is the legal entity behind the account. ATFX operates through several entities, and its UK entity explicitly says it does not serve retail clients; protections and terms therefore cannot be assumed to apply uniformly. The product specifications also show high leverage for some instruments, which can magnify losses as well as gains.

What stands out

  • Free demo account with a $50,000 virtual balance lets prospective clients practise on MT4 before funding a live account.
  • MT4 supports Expert Advisors, and ATFX also makes MT5 available on desktop, web and mobile.
  • Deposits and withdrawals support cards, bank transfers and e-wallets, with a published $5 charge for qualifying smaller withdrawals.

What to consider

  • ATFX’s UK entity says it does not offer trading services to retail clients, and the account terms vary across the group.

Who owns ATFX and where is it based?

Review score3.1/ 5

ATFX is a multi-entity CFD brokerage brand rather than a single contracting company. ATFX says the group has operated since 2017 and has teams in 14 countries; the London address shown for AT Global Markets (UK) Limited is not a group-wide head-office designation.

ATFX describes its FX model as straight-through processing (STP), saying FX orders on MT4 are routed to the market. Its product specifications also describe market orders as being executed at a tradable price offered by the market. These are the broker’s descriptions of its model, not independent measures of execution quality. ATFX earns through spreads on Standard and Edge accounts and says Premium uses a raw feed with commission charged outside the spread. The commission rate depends on the account terms.

ATFX promotes CFDs as its main route to markets. The UK legal documents also identify spread betting products, while the group says spread betting is for UK residents. ATFX names forex, indices, commodities, crypto and shares among its markets; share exposure is offered as CFDs rather than direct share ownership.

Is ATFX safe, legit and regulated?

Review score2.8/ 5

ATFX names several regulated companies, including a UK FCA-authorised entity and a Cyprus CySEC-regulated company, but the protections applicable to an individual depend on the entity holding the account. Regulation does not remove market, counterparty or trading risk.

### Which ATFX entity holds your account? AT Global Markets (UK) Limited is authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority under registration number 760555. ATFX explicitly says this company does not offer trading services to retail clients; its shared-site notice directs professional clients to ATFX Connect. ATFX Global Markets (C.Y.) Limited is named as CySEC-regulated, and the shared notice specifies professional clients only.

AT Global Markets Intl Ltd is listed as regulated by the Mauritius Financial Services Commission, with registration number 157819 and licence number C118023331. ATFX MENA Financial Services LLC is listed as regulated by the UAE Capital Market Authority under Category 5 licence 20200000078. ATFX also names ATFX (Cambodia) Company Limited as regulated by Cambodia’s Securities and Exchange Regulator under licence 040. In Jordan, Arabic Trader for Trade and Investment is identified as an introducing broker regulated by the Jordan Securities Commission, licence 643; ATFX says services there are offered through that introducing broker.

The site also names AT Global Markets LLC as a Saint Vincent and the Grenadines limited liability company; that corporate registration is not evidence of financial-services authorisation. ATFX describes client funds as segregated, but does not tie that claim to each entity in the group. No entity-specific negative-balance protection or compensation-scheme terms are established for retail accounts. The contracting entity is consequently a material point to identify before relying on any particular protection.

ATFX fees, spreads and commissions

Review score3.4/ 5

ATFX’s retail-account pricing is built around spread-only Standard and Edge accounts and a Premium account with commission outside the spread. Published spread figures are minimums or account examples, rather than typical live trading costs, and ATFX says platform spreads can vary with liquidity-provider quotes.

### What do the account spread figures show? The product specifications give a Standard-account EUR/USD minimum-spread figure of 1.8, USD/JPY 2.0 and GBP/USD 2.0. The same table gives 3.8 for spot gold (XAU/USD). ATFX labels these as “Minimum Spreads”; it separately labels its sample Standard figures as reference only and directs clients to the platform for actual spreads. ATFX advertises Edge spreads starting from 0.6 and Premium spreads from 0.0, but those “from” figures do not describe the spread a trader will typically receive.

Standard is described as commission-free. The product specifications say overnight interest is applied to open positions at platform midnight and direct clients to the instrument specifications for swap values. Those values are instrument-specific, so a multi-night position may incur financing that a spread figure alone does not capture.

### What other charges apply? ATFX lists no deposit fee for bank transfer, card or e-wallet deposits. It says a non-UK card can sometimes incur a small fee, refunded on receipt of proof of the charge; bank or interbank charges may also apply. Bank transfers, cards and e-wallets may therefore have costs outside the broker’s own deposit charge.

Withdrawals are free when the amount is at least €/$/£100, or when withdrawing the full available balance to close the account. Otherwise ATFX charges €/$/£5. A card provider may impose its own fee. The stated minimum free withdrawal is €/$/£100 or the full available balance, whichever is lower. This threshold is particularly relevant to small-balance accounts making partial withdrawals.

ATFX account types and minimum deposit

Review score3.2/ 5

ATFX gives a $500 minimum deposit for opening a Standard account. The minimum deposit varies by account, and the broker separately sets a €/$/£100 minimum for an individual deposit transaction; those are different stated thresholds, not interchangeable figures.

### How do the live accounts differ? Standard is commission-free and gives access to all instruments with competitive spreads. The product specifications give it a EUR/USD minimum-spread figure of 1.8. Edge is also presented as a spread-based account for all instruments, with ATFX advertising spreads from 0.6. Premium covers FX, metals, oil and indices on a raw feed, with commission charged outside the spread; ATFX advertises Premium spreads from 0.0.

ATFX names Professional as an additional account option and includes it among the four account options listed for deposits. The shared legal notice limits UK and Cyprus entities to professional clients, but does not attach the general Professional account description to a particular entity or explain which protections a client gives up. These terms cannot be treated as a universal retail account choice.

### Can you practise before funding? ATFX offers a free demo account with a $50,000 virtual balance. ATFX describes practice in forex, indices and commodities and says the account uses MT4 on desktop, mobile or web terminal. Virtual funds cannot be withdrawn or transferred to a live account. The broker also advertises MT5 live access, and account opening involves choosing MT4 or MT5.

Leverage, margin and order execution

Review score3.0/ 5

ATFX describes its trading model as STP and says market orders are executed at a tradable price offered by the market. For pending orders, ATFX lists Buy Limit, Buy Stop, Sell Limit and Sell Stop; when triggered, these become market orders, and the broker says execution at the original set price cannot be guaranteed.

### What leverage and margin terms are shown? The product-specification table gives forex-major leverage columns of 1:500, 1:400, 1:200 and 1:100, and specifies 1:50 for several exotic currency pairs. It also shows asset-specific leverage examples, including 1:100 for oil CFDs and 1:10 for crypto and share CFDs. These figures are presented as account leverage columns, not linked to a named client jurisdiction or retail/professional status. They should not be taken as the leverage available to every ATFX customer. The product-specification FAQ says a stop-out occurs when the margin level is at or below 30%.

ATFX says spreads vary with liquidity-provider quotes and that market orders are subject to available liquidity, price changes and transmission of the instruction to its MT4 server. The broker describes its approach as STP, but that label is not a measured execution result. Swap is applied to open positions at 00:00 platform time, with rates shown in Market Watch. The platform time is given as GMT+2 or GMT+3 during daylight saving time.

The specifications show minimum lots of 0.01 for many listed forex pairs and a maximum of 30 lots for those rows. Other instruments have different contract and size fields.

What can you trade with ATFX?

Review score4.2/ 5

ATFX offers leveraged CFD exposure across forex, metals, oil and gas, indices, cryptocurrencies, company shares and ETFs. Its product specifications include examples from each of those categories, while the markets overview says clients trade without owning the underlying asset.

### Which markets are represented? The forex list includes major, minor and exotic pairs. The published examples include EUR/USD and USD/JPY, as well as EUR/HUF, USD/MXN and USD/ZAR. Precious metals include spot gold and silver, with gold futures also listed. Energy exposure includes spot and futures-contract CFDs on WTI and Brent crude oil and a natural-gas futures CFD. Index examples include the US 500, UK 100, Germany 30, Hong Kong 50 and Japan 225.

Crypto examples include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Cardano and several other USD pairs. The share CFD list includes US, German, French and Hong Kong companies. ATFX also lists US ETF CFDs, including products tracking emerging markets, gold, oil and broad US equities. The product-specification table identifies these shares and ETFs as CFDs, not underlying securities held in the client’s name.

This range lets a CFD trader move among currencies, benchmark markets, commodities and selected listed companies through the broker’s platforms. It is not a conventional investing account for buying and holding shares or ETFs. Availability can differ by account type, and ATFX explicitly notes that instrument availability may vary.

ATFX trading platforms and app

Review score4.3/ 5

ATFX provides MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, with access on desktop, web and mobile devices. The practical choice is between MT4’s established automation and add-on ecosystem and MT5’s newer multi-asset interface; account setup asks clients to choose a platform.

### What can MT4 do? ATFX lists MT4 for desktop and mobile, with web terminal access also described on the demo account page. The platform supports Expert Advisors (EAs), custom indicators and scripts, plus a strategy tester. MT4 signals can copy trades from third-party providers. The broker describes a VPS service for maintaining automated trading connections, with eligibility dependent on account type.

ATFX offers MT4 add-ons including Trading Central, Autochartist, an economic-calendar indicator and a position-size calculator. Trading Central supplies technical trade ideas, while Autochartist analyses chart patterns and provides a daily price-range forecast. The position-size calculator is intended to help set trade size, stop-loss and take-profit levels. The broker also promotes a proprietary support-and-resistance indicator for MT4, with a related instructional video; access terms differ between demo and live accounts.

### What does MT5 add? ATFX offers MT5 on PC, web and mobile. The broker’s MT5 description lists more than 80 built-in indicators and analytical tools across 21 timeframes, along with market depth and multiple order types. MT5 is presented for forex, indices, commodities, metals, energy and shares, although the underlying products remain CFDs where offered by ATFX.

ATFX lists apps for iOS and Android and says clients can trade on PC, tablets and phones. It also provides MT4 tutorials and webinars. The choice is not between a proprietary platform and MetaTrader: both of ATFX’s named live platforms belong to the MetaTrader family.

Opening an account, deposits and withdrawal times

Review score3.8/ 5

ATFX describes live-account registration as an online application followed by identity verification and funding. The shared registration steps say the account is set up after identity verification; another account page says the process includes an online form, identification and funding. A current live-account journey also refers to eKYC. ATFX says opening and verification can be completed inside 24 hours and describes eKYC as taking minutes.

### How can you deposit? ATFX lists bank transfer, Visa and Mastercard, debit cards, Skrill, Neteller and Trustly for deposits. Its deposit table gives a €/$/£100 minimum per transaction. The deposit FAQ says card and e-wallet funds usually reach the trading account within 30 minutes, while bank-transfer funds are credited within one working day after ATFX receives them. These are account-credit estimates; the transfer from a bank or payment provider can take additional time. ATFX says deposits from third-party accounts are not accepted, so the funding account must be in the client’s name.

The broker says it charges no deposit fee for bank transfer, cards or e-wallets, though the bank may charge its own fees. It notes that a non-UK card can sometimes incur a small fee, refunded after proof is provided. The deposit table lists EUR, GBP and USD for the payment methods shown.

### How long do withdrawals take? ATFX says withdrawal requests received before 4 p.m. Cyprus time on a business day are processed the same day; later requests are processed on the next available working day. After processing, bank transfers are estimated to take 3–5 working days to arrive, e-wallets up to 2 working days, and card refunds around 2–5 working days. These are separate steps: ATFX processing is not the same as payment-provider settlement.

Funds are returned to the original deposit source. If withdrawing profits, ATFX may request bank details, and the bank account must be fully verified before the withdrawal request. If card restrictions prevent a return to the card, the broker may request a bank statement and send funds to the registered bank account. Withdrawals below €/$/£100 incur a €/$/£5 fee, except when the full balance is withdrawn to close the account.

Research, education and customer support

Review score4.0/ 5

ATFX combines market-analysis tools and education with live support by online chat, email and phone. Its account and platform pages describe Trading Central and Autochartist integrations, and its education offering includes a Trading Academy, webinars and platform guides.

### What research and trading tools are included? Trading Central provides technical ideas based on chart patterns, indicators and algorithms, with volatility and risk analysis. ATFX says access is free when signing up, though access may depend on account terms. Autochartist is described as an MT4 plugin that scans classic and Fibonacci chart patterns and gives a daily price-range forecast. ATFX also lists an MT4 economic calendar and position-size calculator, plus its own support-and-resistance indicator. These tools offer analysis and planning features; their signals are not assurances of profitable trades.

ATFX says its analyst team publishes daily market reviews and previews. It also advertises seminars, webinars, live-stream events and free workshops, and its Trading Academy contains modules and lessons for novice and experienced traders. MT4 tutorials and help documents cover platform use. A two-hour instructional video accompanies the support-and-resistance indicator; the broker describes the related live-account access as unlimited while a demo trial is limited to 10 days. These resources combine platform instruction and market commentary rather than a formal qualification course.

### How can clients reach support? ATFX lists online chat, email and telephone support. ATFX advertises multilingual global support 24/5 and says support can be reached during peak trading times. ATFX provides regional phone numbers and email addresses, but service hours and languages depend on the relevant support team. Advertised availability is not a measured response-time result.

ATFX alternatives worth comparing

ATFX’s Standard account gives a EUR/USD minimum-spread figure of 1.8, while its Premium account advertises a 0.0 minimum spread and charges commission outside the spread. A trader comparing short-term FX costs would benefit from comparing both the typical spread and the full commission rate on any alternative account, rather than selecting by the smallest “from” figure.

For partial withdrawals below ATFX’s €/$/£100 threshold, the €/$/£5 charge can be significant on a small balance. An alternative with no minimum withdrawal fee, or a lower fixed charge, may suit clients who expect frequent small withdrawals. The relevant comparison is the actual withdrawal rule and payment settlement timetable, not a general broker ranking.

Checks to make before you open an account

Review score4.3/ 5

Settle the contracting entity first, because ATFX’s UK and Cyprus companies are described as serving professional clients only, while the group also uses other regulated entities. Entity choice determines which terms and protections apply to the account.

Then choose between Standard or Edge spread pricing and Premium’s raw feed with commission. The separate commission and live spread determine whether Premium is suitable for the way you trade; its lowest advertised spread alone is not enough for a cost comparison. Finally, budget around the applicable deposit and withdrawal thresholds: Standard has a $500 opening minimum, and a partial withdrawal below €/$/£100 carries a fixed fee. These details directly affect a trader starting small or moving funds out regularly.

ATFX FAQ

01

Is ATFX regulated?

Yes. ATFX names entities regulated by the UK FCA, Cyprus CySEC, Mauritius FSC, UAE Capital Market Authority and other authorities. Its UK company is FCA-authorised under registration 760555 but says it does not serve retail clients; the Cyprus company is identified as serving professional clients only. The entity named in the client agreement determines which authorisation applies.

02

Is ATFX safe?

ATFX says client funds are held in segregated bank accounts. The UK FCA company does not offer retail trading services, so its authorisation should not be treated as applying to every ATFX account.

03

What is ATFX's minimum deposit?

ATFX gives a $500 minimum deposit for opening a Standard account. It also sets a €/$/£100 minimum for each deposit transaction.

04

How long do ATFX withdrawals take?

ATFX says it processes business-day requests received before 4 p.m. Cyprus time the same day, with later requests handled the next available working day. After processing, bank transfers are estimated at 3–5 working days, e-wallets at up to 2 working days and card refunds at around 2–5 working days.

05

Does ATFX offer MT4 or MT5?

Yes. ATFX offers both MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. MT4 supports Expert Advisors and add-ons such as Trading Central and Autochartist; ATFX lists MT5 for PC, web and mobile, with more than 80 built-in analytical tools and 21 timeframes.

06

Does ATFX accept US clients?

ATFX’s shared site notice says its services are not directed at US residents and are not intended for distribution or use where that would violate local law. That is a clear restriction on relying on the general ATFX offering as a US resident.

Our broker reviews are based on a consistent evaluation process that combines independent research with practical testing. Rather than relying solely on information published by brokers, we verify key details wherever possible and assess each broker using the same set of criteria.

Our research begins with the broker's regulatory status. We verify licences with recognised financial authorities, review publicly available company information, and examine legal documents such as client agreements, fee schedules, and terms of business. This helps us understand how the broker operates and the protections available to clients.

Where possible, we open live accounts and test the broker's services ourselves. This allows us to evaluate the trading experience from account opening through funding, trading, and withdrawals.

Our reviews consider the following areas:

Regulation & Safety

We verify the broker's regulatory licences, investor protection measures, client fund segregation, and any available compensation schemes. We also consider the broker's operating history and regulatory record.

Trading Costs

We compare spreads, commissions, overnight financing (swap) charges, and other trading and non-trading fees. Since pricing can vary between account types and market conditions, we assess costs across the broker's available offerings.

Account Types

We review the broker's account options, minimum deposit requirements, leverage limits, execution models, and any features designed for different types of traders.

Markets & Instruments

We examine the range of available forex pairs and CFDs, including indices, commodities, shares, cryptocurrencies, and other supported markets where applicable.

Trading Platforms

We test the broker's web, desktop, and mobile platforms, paying attention to usability, available order types, charting tools, technical indicators, execution quality, and any support for automated or copy trading.

Deposits & Withdrawals

We review the available funding methods, processing times, fees, and the overall process for depositing and withdrawing funds.

Customer Support

We contact customer support through the available channels to assess response times, the quality of assistance provided, and the availability of support during trading hours.

Keeping Our Reviews Current

Broker services, pricing, and regulations can change over time. For that reason, we periodically review and update our content when significant changes occur or new information becomes available.
