Is NordFX a good broker? Our verdict
NordFX is a practical fit for traders who want MT4 or MT5 access to leveraged CFDs across several markets, but it is less suitable for investors seeking to own shares or for clients who need a clearly mapped, locally regulated account. Its range spans currencies, metals, energies, indices, share CFDs and crypto CFDs, with four platform-linked account types and entry deposits starting at $10. The central trade-off is that advertised low spreads sit alongside per-side commissions on Zero accounts, while published spread figures use inconsistent descriptions and units. The more consequential issue is identifying which legal entity will hold the account: NordFX names a Mauritius-licensed investment dealer as well as a Saint Lucia-registered company, without mapping customers to either. That affects how much protection a client can expect, so the brand name alone is not enough to establish the applicable terms. MT4 and MT5 automation and demo accounts add flexibility, but the trading remains leveraged CFD exposure rather than direct investment in the underlying markets.
What stands out
- MT4 Pro starts at a $10 minimum deposit, making the entry threshold low for a small-account trial.
- MT4 and MT5 support algorithmic trading, including creating and testing trading programs.
- The listed instruments include share CFDs, indices, metals, energies and crypto CFDs alongside currency pairs.
What to consider
- NordFX lists a 3% withdrawal fee for several regional payment methods, which reduces the amount received.
- MT5 Pro's homepage minimum is $10, while its account listing and specification give a $50 minimum.
Who owns NordFX and where is it based?
Review score2.8/ 5NordFX is a multi-asset trading brand founded in 2008. Its shared-site legal notice says NordFX LTD operates the website and is part of Nord Group; the company description reports more than 1.8 million accounts and activity in nearly 188 countries. Those are company-reported scale figures, not independent measures of active clients.
NordFX's products are leveraged trading accounts on MT4 and MT5, covering currency pairs and CFDs on markets including metals, shares, indices and cryptocurrencies. The account menu presents Pro accounts with no FX commission and Zero accounts with a percentage commission on each side of a trade. That is a different pricing structure, not proof that one account costs less overall: the spread also contributes to the trading cost.
NordFX labels MT5 Zero and MT4 Zero as providing access to interbank liquidity and describes its service as using market execution. These are the broker's descriptions of its model; the account terms are more useful for comparing the concrete pricing and order conditions. The company says it was founded in 2008, and the legal notice gives NordFX LTD's registered address in Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia.
Is NordFX safe, legit and regulated?
Review score2.0/ 5Nord Premium LTD is identified as an investment dealer regulated by the Financial Services Commission of Mauritius under licence GB24204016, with a registered address in Ebene, Mauritius. Separately, NordFX LTD is identified as a Saint Lucia company with registration number 2023-00470 and a registered office in Rodney Bay. That number is a company registration, not evidence of financial-services authorisation.
The Mauritius licence belongs to Nord Premium LTD and cannot automatically be treated as the authorisation or protection framework for a client of NordFX LTD. The notice says NordFX LTD does not serve residents of the United States, Canada, the EU, Russia, Cuba, Sudan, Syria, Malaysia, Panama, Indonesia, Japan, Brazil, Ukraine, North Korea or Myanmar.
NordFX advertises segregated funds and negative balance protection as advantages. Regulation does not remove market or counterparty risk. The practical safety question is the contracting entity and its applicable client-money and complaint arrangements, rather than the existence of a licence elsewhere in the group.
NordFX fees, spreads and commissions
Review score3.0/ 5NordFX's fees depend on the account and instrument. Pro accounts list no FX commission and spreads from 10 pips; Zero accounts advertise spreads from 0.0 pips and charge a percentage commission on each side. “From” is a minimum, not a typical trading cost. The detailed account tables instead label EUR/USD spreads as typical points: 10 points for MT5 Pro, 12 points for MT4 Pro, 0 points for MT5 Zero and 3 points for MT4 Zero.
What does the Zero account commission add?
For FX on MT4 Zero and MT5 Zero, NordFX lists a commission of 0.0035% per trade, each side. As an illustration, assume a standard EUR/USD lot of €100,000 and an exchange rate of $1.10, giving a $110,000 notional value for the commission calculation. At 0.0035%, the commission would be $3.85 to open and $3.85 to close, or $7.70 round trip. With an assumed pip value of $10 for that lot, that is about 0.77 pips in commission alone, before spread and financing. This is a calculation, not a quote; the actual charge depends on the notional value used when the trade is placed.
The MT5 Zero specification separately lists a 0.025% per-side commission, and MT4 Zero lists 0.03% per side, after the FX rate in the commission field. These appear to relate to crypto pairs in the account tables; NordFX's rates are instrument-specific, so the FX commission should not be applied to crypto. The Pro specifications list no FX commission but a 0.025% per-side crypto commission on MT5 Pro and 0.03% per side on MT4 Pro.
How does holding a position affect the cost?
Standard swaps can be positive or negative, are charged daily at the server rollover, and are tripled on Wednesday for forex. The applicable long and short values vary by instrument; for example, MT5 Zero's EUR/USD contract table lists -8.96 points for a long swap and 4.15 points for a short swap. Swap amounts can change with market conditions. Swap-free accounts waive rollover swaps for eligible clients, but certain symbols carry storage fees after specified holding periods, including $10 per day per lot for most listed forex pairs from day eight and $30 per day per lot for XAUUSD from day eight. Exceptions start earlier, and some charges are tripled on designated days.
What are the payment-related charges?
NordFX lists no deposit fee for Visa/Mastercard and several crypto routes, while Skrill deposits below $20 and Neteller deposits below $40 incur a $1.50 fee; Neteller deposits above $40 are listed at 4%. Withdrawal fees vary substantially by method and region: Skrill is 1% with a $0.50 minimum, Neteller is 2% with a $1 minimum, and many local routes carry fees of 1.5% to 4%. Crypto withdrawal fees are listed as zero, with blockchain-dependent transfer times. These charges, plus the live spread and any overnight financing, are the costs most relevant to comparing accounts.
NordFX account types and minimum deposit
Review score3.4/ 5The lowest listed minimum is $10 for MT4 Pro. MT4 Zero starts at $100, MT5 Pro at $50 in its account listing and detailed specification, and MT5 Zero at $200. NordFX publishes conflicting MT5 Pro minimums of $10 and $50; the discrepancy matters if the threshold determines whether the account is accessible.
Which account fits your pricing preference?
Pro accounts are the spread-based option for FX, with no FX commission and a published spread minimum of 10 pips. Zero accounts show spreads from 0.0 pips but add a 0.0035% commission per side on FX. Each Zero account is tied to its platform: MT4 Zero requires $100 and MT5 Zero $200. NordFX lists USD as the account balance currency for all four accounts. MT5 Pro also lists a 3.8% annual interest figure on free margin; this is a specific MT5 Pro feature, not a general account benefit.
The account specifications differ by platform and instrument. MT4 Pro and MT4 Zero allow a maximum of 50 lots per trade, while the MT5 account specifications list 100 lots. NordFX offers a demo-account option for each type, allowing the platform and pricing to be explored without committing to a live account.
Who can use a swap-free account?
NordFX restricts swap-free accounts to clients with Islamic religious beliefs and requires sufficient proof of religion. The account pays or earns no swap, though NordFX lists storage fees on certain instruments and says it monitors transactions for use of the feature. It recommends prioritising intraday positions and warns that misuse can lead to removal of swap-free status. The feature is therefore conditional, not a general way to avoid holding costs.
Leverage, margin and order execution
Review score3.0/ 5NordFX lists maximum leverage of up to 1:1000, but the actual amount varies by instrument and may be reduced depending on market conditions and account balance. Contract specifications show lower limits for some products: MT5 Zero lists 1:50 for oil, 1:5 for natural gas and 1:10 for several equity indices. Its crypto contracts range from 1:20 to 1:200. For account exposure of $5 million to $10 million equivalent, the MT5 Zero terms list 1:500 leverage, falling to 1:200 above $10 million.
How are orders and margin handled?
NordFX labels execution as market execution. The platform information describes MT4 as offering both instant and market execution, and both platforms support multiple order types. The account specifications set a minimum lot of 0.01 for the listed FX contracts; maximum size varies by platform, with the account terms listing up to 50 lots on MT4 and 100 lots on MT5. Pro accounts list a 40% margin-call level and 20% stop-out level. MT4 Zero lists 60% and 40%, while MT5 Zero lists 40% and 20%.
NordFX says that, one hour before market close, margin-call and stop-out levels can be increased to 200% without prior notice. Its general terms also say leverage may be reduced without prior notice, and swap rates can change with market conditions. These conditions can affect the margin available to maintain open positions. The broker says stop-out liquidation is used to prevent a negative balance, while separately advertising negative balance protection.
The shared trading terms say limit and stop orders must be placed outside a minimum interval equal to the instrument's typical spread; an order within that interval is rejected. The freeze level, where orders close to execution cannot be modified, deleted or closed, is given as half the spread.
What can you trade with NordFX?
Review score3.5/ 5NordFX provides leveraged contracts across currencies, metals, energies, indices, shares and cryptocurrencies. The account specifications give examples including more than 30 currency pairs, gold and silver, Brent and WTI oil, natural gas, global equity indices, and share CFDs on companies such as Apple, Amazon, Tesla and Microsoft. Its crypto list includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, BNB, Litecoin, XRP, Solana and other token-linked contracts.
Are NordFX shares real shares or CFDs?
The share instruments in the account specifications are stock CFDs, not direct share ownership. The same applies to the listed indices and crypto pairs, which are contracts referencing market prices rather than delivery of the underlying asset. That distinction matters for anyone seeking shareholder rights or custody of crypto. The broker's homepage presents 20+ leading company shares and names major indices, while the detailed instrument tables provide selected symbols rather than a single total count across all markets.
The range is multi-asset, but its availability and contract terms vary across instruments and MT4/MT5 account specifications. Crypto contracts have their own minimum volumes and leverage schedules, while oil and gas also have distinct trading hours and margin ratios. CFDs allow positions to be taken on price movements without owning the underlying asset, but exposure remains tied to the contract's terms and applicable financing.
NordFX trading platforms and app
Review score4.0/ 5NordFX offers MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 on desktop, smartphones and tablets, and ties each account to one of the two platforms. That choice matters because account minimums and some contract specifications differ between MT4 and MT5.
What can MT4 and MT5 do?
NordFX describes MT4 as supporting technical analysis, multiple timeframes, news feeds and the creation and testing of indicators and scripts. Its platform information also describes automated trading through Expert Advisors and the ability to copy other traders' transactions. MT5 adds a broader set of instruments and analysis features, including more than 80 technical indicators and tools, 21 timeframes, market-depth information, an economic calendar and detailed trading reports. NordFX says MT5 supports algorithmic trading and the creation and testing of custom trading software.
Both platforms connect to the MQL5.community portal. These functions support traders who want to automate strategies or use custom indicators, while the demo option attached to each account gives a way to explore the platform before funding a live account. The platform descriptions are feature claims, not evidence of measured usability or execution quality.
NordFX also lists Social Trading as a service, describing it as a way to follow and automatically copy other traders' strategies. The established platform choice is MetaTrader; no separate proprietary trading terminal is part of the described offering.
Opening an account, deposits and withdrawal times
Review score3.2/ 5NordFX describes account opening as registration followed by funding and access to trading. Its privacy policy says applications collect personal details such as name, address, date of birth, occupation, assets and income, and that identity verification can require a passport or driver's licence. The policy also says failure to provide requested information may prevent account opening or ongoing service.
Which deposit methods are listed?
The payment list spans bank cards, e-wallets, cryptocurrencies and region-specific local payment services. Visa/Mastercard deposits in USD are listed with no fee and an almost-instant transfer period. Crypto deposits, including USDT and USDC on several networks and Bitcoin, are also listed without broker fees, with timing dependent on the blockchain. Local options include examples such as M-PESA in Kenya, UPI and PayTM in India, and online banking or e-wallet services in several Asian markets. Availability is regional, not universal. NordFX advertises deposits starting from $10, while the minimum for a live account depends on the account selected.
How long do withdrawals take?
NordFX lists withdrawals through Skrill and Neteller as almost instant, crypto transfers as dependent on the blockchain, and several local bank-transfer methods as up to 24 hours. Other regional payment routes are also labelled almost instant. These are the broker's advertised transfer periods, not a measured time to settlement in the recipient's bank or wallet.
Withdrawal costs vary by method: the list shows 1% for Skrill, 2% for Neteller, and regional charges such as 3% for M-PESA, 4% for India bank transfer and 1.5% for Vietnam bank transfer. Crypto withdrawals are listed with no fee, subject to network processing.

Research, education and customer support
Review score3.3/ 5NordFX provides recurring market analysis, forecasts and market news, alongside educational articles, a learning center and trading glossaries. Its company description says the education section contains hundreds of practical articles; that is the broker's own description, and the menu also includes beginner-oriented material such as Getting Started and How Trading Works. The content mix gives new traders a route into basic terminology as well as regular market commentary, though analysis and education are separate from personalised investment advice.
The broker lists Trading Signals, Social Trading and a trading calculator among its tools. MT5 includes an economic calendar, while the platform descriptions mention news feeds. NordFX's homepage and company description promote regular market insights and economic news. Social Trading is presented as an automatic strategy-copying service, rather than independent research.
NordFX describes customer support as multilingual and available 24/5. It provides [email protected] as a contact address. The stated service hours and language coverage are company descriptions; there are no first-hand response-time or resolution results to report.
NordFX alternatives worth comparing
NordFX's MT5 Pro pricing is the point to compare closely: the account summary says spreads start from 10 pips, while the detailed instrument table labels EUR/USD's typical spread as 10 points. A broker that presents spread units consistently and publishes typical spreads alongside commissions would make a more direct comparison for active FX trading.
For frequent withdrawals, NordFX's listed 1% Skrill fee, 2% Neteller fee and regional fees up to 4% are also relevant. Compare a provider whose commonly used withdrawal method has a lower stated fee for the same region, rather than relying on a general “no-fee” deposit claim.
Checks to make before you open an account
Review score4.3/ 5Choose the platform before funding: NordFX ties each account to MT4 or MT5, and the spread, commission and minimum deposit differ by account. The MT5 Pro minimum is particularly important to settle because NordFX gives both $10 and $50 figures for that account in its account descriptions.
For a cost-sensitive FX strategy, compare the Pro spread-based pricing with the Zero commission model using the same instrument and a consistent spread unit; the advertised minimum alone is not a full round-trip cost. If the strategy holds positions overnight, the relevant swap or swap-free terms can change the total cost, and swap-free eligibility is restricted to clients with Islamic religious beliefs. Finally, treat share and crypto exposure as CFDs rather than ownership of the underlying assets.
